SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20

Recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of Bob Pruett, head football coach of the Marshall University Thundering Herd.

Whereas, The athletic interest of Bob Pruett began at a young age with his participation in football, basketball, track and wrestling during his high school years; and
Whereas, In college, Bob Pruett played football for Marshall University. During his college years, he also lettered three times in wrestling and track at Marshall; and
Whereas, Bob Pruett is a savvy and wise veteran teacher of the game of football; and
Whereas, Bob Pruett has been nationally recognized for his accomplishments by being named National Coach of the Year in 1997, West Virginia Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1997, the Chevrolet National Coach of the Year in 1996 and the Frank Leahy National Coach of the Year in 1996; and
Whereas, Bob Pruett's previous stints at the universities of Florida, Tulane, Mississippi and Wake Forest have allowed Pruett to foster the knowledge that has lifted Marshall University into a new era of competition; and
Whereas, Thirty-one years following his graduation from Marshall University, Bob Pruett, a Beckley, West Virginia native, has come full circle by returning to his beloved alma mater as head football coach of the Thundering Herd; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding coaching ability and sportsmanship of Bob Pruett, a native West Virginian, who has brought Marshall University into a new era of football competition; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Bob Pruett, head football coach of Marshall University.
